The Mongolian Gobi has high mountains, springs, sands, steppe lands and rich animal kingdom and has been inhabited since ancient times. Mongolian Gobi account 42.2% or 660, 4 thousand hectare of Mongolian territory. Gobi has the biggest territory landscape than others. Mongolian Gobi is remaining ancient history and it is very beautiful nature. There are over 10% of Mongolian Population lives in the Gobi.

DETAILED ITINERARY-DAY BY DAY

Day 1 Baga gazar-Flaming cliffs

Our guide & driver will pick up from your accomodation after your breakfast and then driving to baga gazriin chuluu /rock formation/ is a 15 km long and 10 km wide stone massif, is located Middle Gobi. Over 20 kinds of medical herbs and many species of animals such as wild sheep, ibex and marmot exist here, if you have chance you might the wild animals. Surtiin am is one of many beautiful places in Baga gazriin stone massif. This is a narrow canyon with asp, birch, white whicker and elm tree, as well the ruin of a stone temple and the site of 2 yurts where monks lived and meditated since the seventieth century.  Overnight in a ger or tent you can choose. (B+L+D)

Day 2 White Stupa

Tsagaan suvarga is a seabed (60m high 400m wide) made of colorful limestone rocks in Ulziit sum, a local administration unit of Middle Gobi province. It is shaped uniquely because of natural erosions. They named it White Stupa as from the east, the unique shape of the limestone rocks looked alike Buddhist white stupas. Activities: walking around this area for an hour or two. Overnight in ger.)

 

 

Day 3 Yol valley

We'll drive to Yoliin Am in middle of the Gobi Desert National Park which is a strictly protected area, covering 70sq.kms. The mountains here are the highest in the Gobi Desert and the rocky scenery is quite interesting, especially until mid-July while the ice in a gorge remains. We'll walk 3kms through a narrow valley, then 3 kms back to the minivan.  We’ll spend the night in a family ger. (B+L+D

 

 

Day 4 Khongor sand dune

We’ll drive to the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes (195kms). The Khongoryn Els is some of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. We'll see beautiful views, huge sand dunes and a cold water spring with a river that leads to two small ponds. We’ll ride camels for an hour.  Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

 

 

Day 5 Bayanzag flaming cliffs

We'll drive to Bayan-Zag(150kms). Bayan-Zag means "rich in Saxaul Shrubs" is more commonly known as the "Flaming Cliffs" of Bayan-Zag, famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossils.  After lunch we’ll driver to Tsagaan Suvraga which is located in Ulziit village of Dundgobi province. It’s interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure. Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L)

Day 6 Visit real nomadic family

They are the friendliest people You can meet real nomads and visit their gers here. You can even stay with them for a few days to experience real nomadic culture. Our community member households welcome everyone. You can see and try dairy product making, sheep herding, mare and cow milking etc. Most of them have extra ger for their guests neighboring their ger and you will stay in their guest gers, which are roomy and comfortable. You will enjoy real nomadic delicacies and beverages and can help the nomads in their everyday work. Washing facilities are simple in nature, outhouse mainly.

Day 7 Kharkhorin & Erdenezuu monastery

Kharkhorin is a town in Uvurkhangai Province in Mongolia. The population of Kharkhorin town itself was 8,977 in 2003 and covered an area of 20.5 km2. Kharkhorin is located at the lower end of the upper valley of the Orkhon River which is included within UNESCO's World Heritage Site Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. Nearby are the ruins of the ancient town of Karakorum (also known as Kharkhorum or Qara Qorum) which, for a short time, served as the capital of the Mongol Empire under Ogedei Khan. Another Kharkhorin landmark is Erdene Zuu monastery and its famous phallic rock. Erdene Zuu Khiid - The first Buddhist monastery called Erdene-Zuu was built on ruins of Kharkhorin.

Day 8 Semi gobi and Back to UB city

After breakfast we will drive to Semi gobi-Elsen Tasarkhai. You will come across sand dunes lost in the middle of a mountainous area in the central part of Mongolia. Bayan Gobi is well known and  called Elsen Tasarkhai,”the sand fracture”, and extend on 80 kilometres (49,71 miles) in the South of the Khögnö Khan National Park. The main road separates this sand dune into two parts, Mongol Els on the south and Khugnu Tarnyn Els on the north. There are many tourist camps around the sight. Elsen Tasarkhai is surrounded by Mount Khugnu Khan on the north and Mount Ikh Mongol on the south. We have lunch on the way and arrive in UB around 5pm.
