Reindeer Tour

Visiting reindeer herder tour has 3 days horse riding adventure in forest taiga. To visit the Tsaatan people, the last people who live in forest herding reindeers.

Tour highlights: We drive by 4 wd russian van, from Ulaanbaatar to tsagaannuur it takes 1100km,from tsagaannuur to the reindeer people ,we will have horsetrekking. It's around 30km by horse. Because road to the reindeer people from tsagaannuur is very mudy and swampy ,difficult road, it 's not possible by car. So we should ride horses. Very wild nature and beautiful picturesque place. We explore reindeer nomads, talk with them and do some expierences together like ride reindeers, milk them, herd them. 

Duration : 12nights 13days            Also we will be flexible for the duration of the tour, if you want to extend the duration or to make short duration of the tour,  we will consider it and change itinerary for your desire. 

DETAILED ITINERARY - DAY BY DAY

Day 1 Khustai NP and Semi Gobi

Our driver and guide Pick up from your hotel at 8am. Drive to Hustai National Park – do excursion to see the Przewalski’s wild horses in their natural habitat.Upon arrival at Hustai, visit small Ger information center- shows some detailed information about last truly wild horses. Short drive to see Przewalski wild horses – If we lucky there can see fox, deer, eagle, and more animals, birds. After visiting park drive to semi gobi and visiting nomadic family and ride camel through sanddune. Stay in nomadic family guests ger. (L,D)

Day 2 Kharkhorin and Erdenezuu monastery

After morning breakfast, we will set off again by 4WD and heading to the north direction to the Khuvsgul province. On the way we will visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery in Kharkhorin, which was the ancient capital city of Mongolia in the 13th century for about 30 years, located in northwestern part of Uvurkhangai province. The Erdene Zuu monastery is the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in mongolia, it was built in 1586 by Abtai Sain Khan. Stay in guesthouse. (B,L,D)

Day 3 Tsenher hot spa

We’ll drive to the hot spring called “Tsenkher”. You can take a natural hot bath here. On the way we'll stop  at Erdenezuu temple museum and see museums. the symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene-Zuu, the oldest monastery, with 108 stupas, built in 1586. Then visit Karakorum museum and see the Great Mongol state period, Stone Age, Bronze Age, Ancient state period halls. Spend over night in tourist camp. (B+L+D)

Day 4 White lake-Khorgo volcano

Today we’ll drive to the Great White Lake. Khorgo Uul is a dead volcano, which lies on the east of the lake of Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur in Arkhangai Province. The mountain of Khorgo is covered with basalts. The National park covers 28 square kilometers including Togoo Uul 2.240 meters above sea level and the Hill of the lake of Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur. It has been protected since 1965.  Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 5-6 Khuvsgul lake

We'll drive  to Khovsgol National park covers 8.381 square kilometers including the Khovsgol Lake and its watershed, the Lake Basin, and parts of Zunii Saran Mountain. It has been protected since 1992. The Taiga forest has Euro Asian otter, beaver, moose, reindeer, argali, Siberian ibex, snow leopard, red deer, Siberian roe deer and many other wild animals.  We ride a horse and  go hiking by the shore of the lake. Overnight in a Ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 7 Travel to Tsagaannuur village / Stay with Nomadic Herder Family

After morning breakfast, we will to drive to Tsagaannuur village. During your driving view is most magnificent. Upon your arrival our local horse specialist guides will welcome and greet you. Overnight will stay at nomadic herder family's guests ger. Prepare tomorrow horse trekking. 

Day 8 Horse trekking to Reindeer family

After morning breakfast, we start our horse trekking. You will be brief instruction for riding by the local horse guides about the Mongolian horses and the rules. Due to the marshy road condition we will not use vehicles to reach the area, entire our luggage and food supply will be transported by packing horses. Then start and trekking to West Taiga, the area where part of Reindeer communities live. Overnight will spend on the way an open air in a tent. (B,L,D)

Day 9 Reindeer family

 Today we will stay among Reindeer Nomads and will experience everyday life and unique tradition of them. Our activities include attending shaman ritual (if there any opportunity), riding and milking reindeers, processing milk products, talking with people and learning local culture. Overnight will spend in teepee (Reindeer Nomads dwelling home) and spend an open air in a tent.

Day 10 Back to herder family

After breakfast we can enjoy more taking photo and have lunch after that ride horse and back to herder family. Afterniin we arrive and relaxing stay in family's extra ger. (,L,D) 

Day 11 Urantogoo mountain

We’ll drive to Uran Togoo through Murun city. The area is situated in Khutag Under village territory of Bulgan province. This beautifull mountain was initially protected in 1964.  Uran Togoo mountain is an inactive volcano with a unique natural form. We'll spend the night in a  ger.  

Day 12 Amarbayasgalant Monastery

We will drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery, which is the second largest monastery in Mongolia, is located in the beautiful Iven Gol river valley on the foot of Burenkhaan Mountain in Baruunburen town of Selenge province. Hiking in and around the monastery and take some good pictures. Amarbaysgalant monastery was established by order of Manju emperor king Enkh- Amgalan Khan built between "1727-1736" for giving respect to his teacher Undur Gegeen Zanabazar.  It is an excellent place to enjoy the Buddhist cultural heritages of Mongolia. Overnight in a ger camp.(B,L)

Day 13 Back to UB city

Today is our tour last day. After breakfast drive to UB city and on the way have lunch and, arrive around 4-5pm in UB. Transfer to Hotel. (B,L)
