DETAILED ITINERARY - DAY BY DAY

Day 1 Baga gazriin chuluu

Early morning start drive to Baga Gazariin Chuluu.  Baga Gazar /rock formation/ is a 15 km long and 10 km wide stone massif, is located Middle Gobi. Over 20 kinds of medical herbs and many species of animals such as wild sheep, ibex and marmot exist here, if you have chance you might the wild animals. Surtiin am is one of many beautiful places in Baga gazriin stone massif. This is a narrow canyon with asp, birch, white whicker and elm tree, as well the ruin of a stone temple and the site of 2 yurts where monks lived and meditated since the seventieth century. Overnight in a ger camp. (L+D)

Day 2 Tsagaan Suvarga, White stupa

We will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga. The scarp of Tsagaan Suvarga is located in Ulziit soum of Dundgobi province. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over  thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure. Stay in ger camp  (about 410kms). Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 3 Yol valley and small hiking

Early morning we will drive to South Gobi and visit to Yol Valley.The Vulture Canyon, which nestles between the beautiful peaks of Gurvansaikhan of the Three Beauties. After arrival at the canyon, we will take 2-hour hike through the canyon and maybe able to see parts of a glacier left over from the winter months. On our way in/out of the park we can visit the local Natural History Museum where dinosaur eggs and bones, petrified trees and a snow leopard are on display. Overnight in ger. (B+L+D)

Day 4 Khongor sand dunes and camel riding

Today we will enjoy some travel activities of Gobi desert. After breakfast, we will drive towards Khongor sand dunes that extend along the northern side of Sevrei and Zoolun mountain ranges.The two-humped camels are very comfortable to ride, as they walk slowly and gently; you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. Our camel man will take us around the sand dunes of Khongor. Later on,  we will explore the area, climbing to the top of the dunes is challenging but the view from the top of the dunes is amazing and worth the effort.Overnight in a ger. (B+L+D)

Day 5 Bayanzag or Flaming cliffs and walking around

Visit to the Bayanzag area. Known as a Flaming Cliffs "Cradle of Dinosaurs" this is where the first nest of dinosaur eggs ever discovered was found in 1922. A site famous for the remains of dinosaur that lived here 60 million years ago. You can walk around where dinosaurs once roamed and see saxaul trees and other classic desert vegetation. Overnight in ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 6 Ongi temple ruins

We will drive to Ongi temple. Ongiin Khiid is known as complex of ruins of two monasteries called Barlim Khiid and Khutagt Khiid. There is not much left to see, but there are plenty of interesting ruins to explore and one of the monasteries is rebuilt recently. Overnight in ger guesthouse. (B+L+D)

Day 7 Kharkhorin and Erdenezuu monastery

In the morning, we will drive to the Karakorum, the site of the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian Empire. The city served as the Mongolian capital for only 40 years (until when Khubilai Khaan moved it to what is now Beijing). Most of the city was later destroyed by Chinese soldiers during the second half of 14th century. And the remnants of the city were used to build the ErdeneZuu Monastery in the 16th century. Upon arrival in Karakorum the first and most obvious landmark is the massive walls of the Erdenezuu Monastery, which was the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 8 Drive back to UB via Khustai National park

Today we will drive back to UB. On the way we will visit to Khustai NP. There you would be able to see Prjevalskii horses (wild horses). Also you will visit little natural museum and hall of guests for short video about National Park in multi language. Enjoy small hiking and photographing the charming landscape and wildlife. (B+L)
