Day 1 Kharkhorin

We’ll drive to Mongolian ancient capital, Kharakhorin, Chinggis Khaan's fabled city, was founded in 1220  in the Orkhon Valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road. It was from there that the Mongol Empire was governed until Kubilai Khan moved it to Beijing. It served as the capital for 40 years. Following the move, and the subsequent collapse of the Mongolian empire, Karakorum was abandoned. Whatever was left was used to help build the glorious Erdene Zuu monastery in the 16th century. We’ll visit “Erdenezuu” temple museum and “Kharkhorin” museum which was opened just a couple of years ago.  The museum displayed a lot of things from the archeological dig.  We’ll stay in a family guesthouse. (L+D)

Day 2 Orkhon Waterful

We’ll drive to Waterfall, which is great place for taking photos and go hiking through the gorge and Orkhon valley.   Orkhon waterfalls formed 20.000 years ago after a unique combination of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In the heart of summer, their flow is very important, but they can dry up during spring. It’s the Ulaan Tsutgalaan River, ”Red Confluence”, which forms these falls by flowing into the Orkhon River. Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 3 Horse trekking to eight lake

We’ll start horse trekking to the amazing Eight Lakes area from the place called “ Buureg”. he area of Naiman Nuur, ”Eight lakes”, formed behind the volcanic eruptions that occurred all along the centuries. The park is 2400 metres (1,5 mile) above the sea level. An area of 11.500 hectares has been protected as a National Park since 1992. The eight lakes in question are lakes Shireet, the largest and the most beautiful, Khaliut, Bugat, Khaya, Khuis, Onon, Doroo and Bayan Uul. Two of the smallest lakes are completely dry, and the second largest lake, Khuis Nuur, is 90% dry. (Family or tent you can choose) (B+L+D)

Day 4-5 Horse trekking at the eight lakes

Horse riding at the Eight lakes. The place is very cool and there can be snowstorms in June or August. In the heart of Summer, temperatures rarely go until 20°C during the day. 400 to 500 millimetres (16 – 32 inches) of rain fall each year.

Inside the national park, we can see 50 species of birds, such as the black-throated loon, great cormorant, bar-headed goose, or whooper swan. (B+L+D)

Day 6 Tsenher hot spring

We’ll drive to Tsenkher hot spring.  You’ll be able relax taking natural hot bath in the hot spring water. In a pleasant verdant wooded area, some yurts camps with equipment and baths with a less hot temperature have been set up for the travellers, but also for the nomads and the inhabitants of Ulan Bator who are very keen on these baths. Tsenkher hot springs have healing properties notably on articular diseases and nervous system’s diseases. Composition: sodium carbonate, hydrocarbonate, sulfate, fluorite, hydrogen sulfide.  Stay at ger camp at Tsenkher hot spring.

Day 7-8 Great White Lake

We’ll drive to Great White Lake and Khorgo Volcano. Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National park was established to protect the spectacular mountain scenery and endangered species of fauna and flora. The area has extinct volcanoes, many beautiful lakes, a great number of animals and birds, and is definitely one of the best natural tourist attractions. Khorgo is a unique natural complex (2240 m), National Park surrounded by the Khangai Mountains, which is 3000 meters above the sea level. In the craters some of them are very tiny crystal- clears lakes. Overnight in a ger camp. (B+L+D)
